Once your tooth has been nursed back to health, we can restore its natural aesthetic, helping you to smile again.
A dental infection is no laughing matter, often causing unpleasant symptoms and destroying the function and aesthetic integrity of a tooth.
By cleaning out the infected substance at the heart of the problem tooth, your oral health has an excellent chance of becoming stabilised. In many cases, root canal treatment stops a tooth from needing to be extracted, making it an incredibly important treatment for patients.
Sometimes referred to as endodontics, root canal treatment at Paddock Dental Centre is carried out by a dentist with a special interest in this field. Our endodontist Dr (X) is currently completing a Master’s Degree in Endodontics and has specific experience in dealing with a range of cases, ranging from simple to highly complex.
What are the symptoms of a dental infection?
It’s common for an infected tooth to show no symptoms, until the infection is very advanced (which is why routine dentist appointments are so important). When symptoms do arise, they are commonly:
Changes in the shade of the tooth (it can appear darker or greyer in shade).
What causes a dental infection?
The two main causes of a dental infection are trauma to the tooth area through injury, and cavities. No matter what the cause of the infection, it’s essential that treatment is carried out, so that the tooth doesn’t need to be removed. The earlier you see us for treatment, the better chance we have of salvaging your tooth, so that the infection doesn’t spread to other parts of the mouth.
What happens once my tooth is no longer infected?
After we have performed the treatment to save your tooth, we can look at making it look natural again. Once the temporary filling we placed inside your tooth is removed, a bespoke crown can be fitted over the top. This is an incredibly authentic and long-term answer to restoring your tooth’s function and appearance.
Can you carry out all root canal cases?
Unlike other dental practices without a Specialist, we are able to take on even the most complex of root canal cases. So, you won’t have the hassle of needing an out-of-practice referral for this.
At Paddock Dental Centre we offer a wide range of routine and specialist dental care to ensure we can look after all your oral health and cosmetic requirements.
